Sewer Scope Inspection

Don’t guess what’s underground—know it.

Our Sewer Scope Inspection lets you see the condition of your home’s plumbing system from the roof vent stack down to the septic tank or municipal sewer connection. We identify cracked or corroded pipes, root intrusion, and the type of material (such as cast iron or PVC) so you can make informed decisions before costly repairs arise.

Serving: Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach & statewide projects.

Why Sewer Scope Matters

A home’s plumbing system is mostly hidden—and unseen problems can lead to expensive surprises.

Older South Florida homes often have cast-iron plumbing that corrodes or breaks down over time. Tree roots, soil shifts, and age-related deterioration can cause blockages or leaks that damage foundations, driveways, and interiors.

A Sewer Scope Inspection helps detect these issues early, saving you thousands of dollars and protecting your property’s value.

Who We Serve

  • Home Buyers – Ensure the home’s plumbing system is sound before closing

  • Homeowners – Diagnose recurring drain backups, odors, or slow drains

  • Real Estate Professionals – Offer clients peace of mind during transactions

  • Sellers – Get ahead of potential surprises before listing

  • Property Managers – Maintain plumbing systems in multi-unit or rental homes

  • The South Florida Community – Because protecting homes protects Neighborhoods

Understanding Cast-Iron Piping

If your home was built before the mid-1970s, there’s a high chance it still has cast-iron sewer lines. Cast iron was used widely across Florida from the 1940s through the early 1980s before PVC became the standard.

In South Florida’s humid, coastal environment, cast-iron pipes are prone to corrosion from the inside out, leading to scaling, cracks, leaks, and root intrusion. The average life expectancy of cast-iron piping is 40–60 years, meaning many older systems are already beyond their intended service life.

A Sewer Scope Inspection allows our team to visually confirm the interior condition of these lines—identifying early signs of corrosion or failure—before a plumbing emergency or foundation issue develops.

Did You Know?

Most homes built before 1980 in South Florida still have cast-iron plumbing that has surpassed its expected lifespan. Identifying corrosion early can prevent backups, costly excavation, and water damage inside your home.

Signs You May Need a Sewer Scope

  • Frequent or recurring drain backups

  • Gurgling noises in toilets or sinks

  • Slow draining tubs, showers, or sinks

  • Unexplained foul odors inside or outside

  • Water pooling near the foundation or yard

  • Lush or unusually green patches of grass (possible sewage leak)

  • Older home (built before 1980) with original plumbing

  • Recent large tree growth or trimming near the sewer line

Tip: Even if everything appears fine, a Sewer Scope is an affordable way to confirm that your pipes are in good condition before buying or remodeling.

What We Inspect

During a Sewer Scope Inspection, our licensed inspectors use a professional camera to examine your plumbing lines from the roof vent stack all the way to the sewer or septic connection.

We look for:

  • Cracked, broken, or separated pipes

  • Root intrusion or blockages

  • Corrosion, scaling, or rust (especially in cast iron)

  • Misaligned joints or dips ("bellies") in the line

  • Type of material (cast iron, PVC, clay, ABS, etc.)

  • Standing water, debris, or buildup restricting flow

Note:

Allied performs inspection only — we never perform plumbing repairs. This ensures our reports are 100% independent and unbiased.

Sewer Scope vs. Standard Home Inspection

What’s the Difference?

A standard home inspection checks visible components—plumbing fixtures, drains, and supply lines—but cannot see inside buried or concealed pipes.

A Sewer Scope Inspection goes inside the plumbing lines using a specialized camera, showing what’s really happening underground.

This allows us to:

  • Detect problems hidden from view (cracks, corrosion, roots)

  • Identify pipe material and remaining life expectancy

  • Provide visual proof for insurance claims or repair quotes

In short, a home inspection checks your home’s systems; a sewer scope checks the system that’s beneath your home.
